Excerpts from the journal of one racer, Elise Friderich. 2023.

First of all, this is a silly little blog not to be taken too seriously. The post is best read aloud and in a British accent.

September 2:

Today my mama and papa bought me a Peace Tea at a gas station before we arrived. God bless Peace Tea.

September 3:

The day of many tears. My mama and papa left me. #sad. Also, papa got to hold a machete.

September 4:

I found a piece of white bread in a bush which lead to many questions. Why was the bread there? Where was he supposed to end up? Does the five seconds rule apply here?

September 8:

Low: A loss for W Squad. The Squad of X reigned victorious over us during the Squad War of 2023.

High: All Squads, from the lands of B through Z, got hype in the name of Jesus during Revival Night.

September 13:

WE’RE GOING TO VIETNAM FOR CHRISTMAS!

September 16:

Glorious day indeed!! We were released to the outside world and made our way to the motherland; Target. Spoiler alert: we used real toilets.

September 1:

I had to climb a mountain. #pain

September 22:

I and another team member we have fallen ill. Could it be the result of the mountain excursion? Who’s to say…. Me. I am to say. It was.

September 25:

HUZZAH!! For I am much improved and well. However, another team mate has fallen ill. Sad days for the Family of Naya.

September 26:

During evangelism, me and a fellow team member met Margie. We instantly loved her. We love Margie.

September 28:

Sad tidings indeed. For after a beautiful evening of Beauty for Ashes, I took a tumble and broke my foot. #sad

October 1:

After a long days travel to Fort Myers, I was paraded around a Walmart in a shopping cart. 10/10 would recommend.

October 5:

A long days work and some disgruntlement was followed by Night Worship on the beach. To experience Gods beautiful while singing, ”twas joyous indeed.

October 11:

Today I witnessed our fearless leader, Billiam Swan, upon a small bike. His hair blew gloriouly in the breeze as he rode the small vehicle.

October 13:

I saw my mama again. She dropped off my crutches and took me to the House of Waffles. 10/10 would recommend.

October 16:

All night prayer and a 24 hour fast brought to squad to the Lord in such a wonderful way. The time was then concluded with a great feast.

October 18:

We have left the flat plains of America and flown to the beautiful hills and forests of Guatemala. God bless for safe travels.
