This is Part 4 of a series called “The Album”. This is my playlist from Cambodia .
“Animal Alphabet” by Jack Hartmann
for our ministry in Siem Reap, my team worked at an English school. my amazing teacher would always play this song in class, at least three to four times a day. this one will get stuck in your head. I am so sorry.
“Was The Word” by Anna Miriam Brown
on our bus ride from the airport to base, I found a Jesus HipHop musical and had to give it a listen. while I didn’t love the whole album, I did really enjoy the opening.
“Aurora” by Daisy Jones and the Six
in Cambodia, I got to share the stelar album “Aurora” with one of the DOGs (the other team we were living with is called the DOGs). anytime we hung out we played this album and would always catch the other person singing it around the house.
“September” by Earth, Wind, and Fire
sometimes you just have to hype yourself up before leading a team time. I chose to dance to this on the upstairs porch to prepare myself.
“Gee, Officer Krupke” by Leonard Bernstein
thank you Deborah for being a theater kid with me that one morning. Sondheim and Bernstein deserve all the respect.
“Until I Found You” by Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold
after cleaning the shower room, which was also the room with the toilet (we love Asia architecture), I needed a nice, hot shower. even though the shower was barely lukewarm, this song was fun to belt out.
“Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone
one of my weekends was spent at Temple Coffeeshop for about 8 hours. while I was procrastinating the work I had brought with me, Malachi shared this song with me and I quickly added it to at least five of my playlists.
“The Seaside” by Samuel Sim
during my quiet times, I love listening to classical music or instrumental versions of songs I love. this song popped up on a random shuffle and when I saw that it was part of my favorite Jane Austen classic, I fell in love.
“Adonai” by Chris Renzema
you can thank Dougie for introducing this song to me. this beautiful song was my “anthem” during a day I was really struggling with feeling really hopeless. I turned my head towards the sun, barely peaking out from the trees at 6 am. I just called out to the Lord with all I had, even if it wasn’t much. The Lord was truly gracious and loving that day when I felt so tender hearted.
Officer Krupke always makes me SO happy. 😁
I love the story about how our Adonai met your heart’s needs.
