The Album : Vietnam

This is Part 3 of a series called “The Album”. This is my playlist from Vietnam .

“Here Comes Heaven” by Elevation Worship
at our host church, Da Nang International Fellowship, their sermon series was titled Here Comes Heaven. they would teach about how when Jesus came down He brought heaven with Him and how we are still in a season of Advent, waiting for Heaven to come again.

“Just Dance” by Lady Gaga
near our hostel, there was a coffee shop my team adored. we nicknamed it Koi Fish Cafe because of the pond in the middle of the porch with bright colored fish. one time, me and Abby were dancing in the middle of Koi Fish Cafe to this song. we got a lot of weird looking from the other customers but we didn’t really care.

“Get You Goin'” by Alvin and the Chipmunks
one of the nights at the hostel I decided to share my childhood movie, Alvin and the Chipmunks, with Emma. she was at first confused and then ended up tearing up at the end. it was a great night.

“See You Right (Luke 7)” by MBL Worship
my team got to visit a youth group in Da Nang and lead worship. Deborah played this song and I truly felt all of my earthly worries just fall away. all fears, all possessions were just left at the feet of Jesus. all I wanted to do was just love the Lord with just reckless abandon.

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” by Norah Jones and Laufey
on Christmas morning, I looked at a shelf in my room I strung Christmas lights on, there were presents from my parents my Dad brought me during our layover in Texas. days before I had worried that Christmas wouldn’t feel the way it would at home. and I was right. Christmas in Vietnam was a memory I couldn’t recreate if I tried. it was beautiful.

“Only at Christmas Time” by Sufjan Steven’s
years ago, I did a dance solo to this song in a Christmas show. while being on the Race I have missed performing so much and have listened to a lot of old songs from past shows I have done. while remembering that Christmas show, the song touched my heart; we shouldn’t just think about our Savior “only at Christmas time”. the birth of our most high King should be celebrated year round.
